WHEN YOUR DOCTOR IS AWAY

Each patient is seen by appointment. This system is more convenient for you and for our physician.

Please do not bring others with you and ask that they be seen without an appointment. Doing so causes delays for our other patients. If you have a friend or family member who needs to see the doctor, please call prior to coming in so that we can schedule an appointment. If there is a need for immediate treatment, we will make appropriate arrangements.

If you are unable to keep your appointment, please notify us as far in advance as possible so that we can reschedule that time. Your appointment could be given to someone needing immediate care.

Whenever possible, the support staff in our office handles telephone calls so as to avoid unfairly interrupting patients who are being seen by the doctor. Staff members have been trained to answer many of the questions you might have; questions they cannot answer will be referred to your physician. Often he will respond through a staff member, but if he feels he should speak with you personally, he will return your call at his earliest convenience. Of course, matters of emergency are handled immediately.

Please keep in mind when you call that making a diagnosis by telephone is very difficult and that most illnesses require an examination.

If you call for a prescription refill, please give our staff the necessary information and the telephone number of your pharmacy.

Medical information is privileged. We must be very restrictive about reporting any medical information to anyone other than the patient.

At times, your doctor will be away from the office. In emergency situations, another doctor in the group will see you. In non-emergency situations, it is preferable that you wait to see your personal doctor.
